"Northrend." Artwork by Peter Lee.
This piece appeared in a preview article for the Grizzly Hills on the official site, and it was titled "Grizzly Hills Concept Peter Lee" in the press kit for Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
On page 139 of The Art of Blizzard Entertainment, it was described as having inspired Skorn in the Howling Fjord:
- "In Howling Fjord, it's an area called Skorn and it's one of the vrykul villages. This village [in the image] was painted before we actually had all that dialed in, but it was so impactful, it wound up working its way into the game. I loved the vibe of Northrend that it gave—the mist rising above the tree lines. It was very anchoring after the highfalutin concepts of Outland, for the guys to be conceptualizing areas that could plausibly exist within terrestrial Azeroth." —Chris Metzen
