Durnholde Syndrome

Durnholde Syndrome, named after Durnholde Keep, is a strange phenomenon which causes slaves and captives to grow an affinity for their captors after being locked up for too long. This causes them to resist being freed from captivity, claiming that they love working for their captors and that they wouldn't know what to do in the outside world. The term "Durnholde Syndrome" was coined by the Forsaken chief psylosopher Nils Beerot.

• The Durnholde Syndrome is a reference to the real world's Stockholm syndrome, a condition that causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity. Nils Beerot is a reference to Nils Bejerot, the Swedish psychiatrist and criminologist who coined the term.
