Demonshear was the greatsword wielded by the dreadlord Balnazzar himself when he took on the form of Saidan Dathrohan.
The two-handed sword can sometimes deal direct shadow damage by hitting targets, while continuing to weaken them afterwards.[1]

This item drops from Balnazzar in the Stratholme Main Gate wing.
Notes
- According Mathias Shaw, the greatsword is now sealed by sacred wards in the Sanctum of Light, under the watch of the Knights of the Silver Hand.[1]
Patch changes
Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Stats squished. 
Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): Item level reduced from 63 to 47. 
Patch 1.2.0 (2004-12-18): Damage over time effect on Demonshear should no longer be increased by items with Shadow bonuses.
