Combat zone

A combat zone is an area where all players are flagged for PvP combat, even if on a PvE realm. Combat zones were introduced in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

This is distinct from Player vs All zones, where a player can fight anyone not on their own team or raid.

Known combat zones

• Wintergrasp
• Tol Barad (partially)
• Ashran (partially)
• Warden Towers

Notes

• Tol Barad is only a combat zone, while the battle is taking place, when the battle is not taking place the area treats it as a contested zone per the type of realm players are on.
• Battlegrounds could be considered combat zones, as realm types are ignored, and players are not able to switch off their PvP flag.
