Subcategories

Seems like this category would benefit from subcategories similar to that of Wowpedia:Zone category project. I'm going to start with Category:Wyrmrest Accord since it's part of another project I'm working on. Would be nice to update all of these factions similarly. -- Mordsith - (talk|contr) 04:55, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Since we have a Horde faction and Alliance faction Category already, is this like a Neutral faction Category? If not, then I don't see a need for this category. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 09:57, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
As I see it, this category should contain every faction listed in your factions tab in game. So, not just neutral factions, but all of them. I think I was then going to place the Horde-only in Category:Horde factions, but I haven't been actively editing, so I don't quite remember the exact subcategory structure. -- Mordsith - (talk|contr) 02:51, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
I tried sorting some of it last night because recently the articles on the Horde and Alliance were split into "city", "playable race", and "faction" articles. You can check it out here Template:Factions. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 03:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
I still think this category should be a parent category for the Horde factions category, Alliance factions category, and Neutral factions category. The Neutral factions category would be where the factions not part of the ALliance or Horde of course fit in. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 12:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

All factions

Should all factions have their own category? We already have the faction template, but ideally I would say yes. Some factions do not have a lot associated with them. Some consist only of a few, if any members, or simply have no rewards. The faction Brood of Nozdormu as an example, no longer have any members and has no category. You can still gain rep, and arguably, the Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight could be considdered a reward as you need the appropriate rep to obtain them through quests. Later expansions hav introduced reputations with individual persons aswell, the Tiller individuals, Nat Pagle and Chromie for instance. If they aren't already active, those new fisher NPCs will be relevant for this subject aswell, when they are added. Should they have their own categories aswell? PeterWind (talk) 12:21, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

I'll admit I don't know much about these "personal" reputations. Do they give rewards? Xporc (talk) 13:00, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Conjurer Margoss and Nat Pagle have available rewards based on friendship. For the Tiller individuals, they just send a reward via mail once the max is reached. They all have their own reputation bars under the reputation character-tab. Nat Pagle is however part of the angler faction, and the tillers of the Tiller faction. If they were to get their own categories, and I'm still a little on the fence, they should probably just be sub categories of those factions. Margoss and the other fishermen are however, to my knowledge independent. Chromie seems to, most commonly, be associated with Wyrmrest Accord. Her reputation just unlock talents for her scenario, with the exception of the final reputation rank also granting a title. For the individuals, I am thinking it might be enough to just put them on the faction template perhaps. They have reputation bars, without "really" being whole factions. PeterWind (talk) 13:33, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
I am not 100% sure on this because I don't play enough to have met characters with individual reputation bars but yes, it sounds like at least for the Tillers they should probably be put individually on the faction template as sub-parts of the main Tillers faction, with their reward items being simply tagged as Category:Tillers rewards. Probably do the same for Nat Pagle, add him as part of the Anglers faction on the main template and have his items as Category:Anglers rewards if they aren't already.
Now that leaves the question of Chromie and the Brood of Nozdormu. Since as I understand it Chromie doesn't have any personal rewards yet, unless we create individual pages for each of the buffs she can gain in her scenario, I don't see the point of creating an individual category for her. Finally, for the Brood of Nozdormu, I think we should create a Category: Brood of Nozdormu which would contain Anachronos and the NPCs formerly affiliated with the faction (Brood of Nozdormu (drake) I guess? Any more?), and have a Category: Brood of Nozdormu rewards sub-category for everything listed on Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight and Temple of Ahn'Qiraj quest loot. What do you think? Xporc (talk) 14:52, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Something to that extent is what I was thinking yes, for the Brood of Nozdormu. I started thinking about this, because of what Mordecay said over on Category talk:Area 52 NPCs, even if that wasn't the point. Talking about the goblin factions/cities, I noticed that the goblin factions weren't included in the faction template and just went from there. I haven't checked whether all factions apart from the ones I've mentioned are included in the category yet. PeterWind (talk) 15:13, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Oh wait, I guess the Steamwheedle Cartel category, with the goblin factions is in the factions category. PeterWind (talk) 15:16, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
