Proposal and Vote Archives

The initial policy was adopted around 8 Feb 2006. See Project talk:Policy/Vandalism/Adoption1 for the vote.

The definition of a vandal was previously on Project:Vandalism. It is now integrated in the policy itself. The archived votes on the definition are now in Project talk:Policy/Vandalism/Definition1 and Project talk:Policy/Vandalism/Definition2.

Minor Penalty Change Decreed

As an admin who does alot of blocking of vandals, I'm making a minor change declaration to the penalties. Since their is no preset in the blocking UI for 10 years, the penalty for 20 or more acts of vandalism is going to be permanent ban, since the next highest preset is infinite (∞). --Fandyllic 5:01 PM PST 22 Mar 2006

Minor Penalty Change Decreed

Admins seem to be using 3 months a s a block time, but it isn't currently in the policy, so I'm making a small change that adds it. --Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:21 PM PST 10 Jan 2008

Interpretation of block time

Just a quick note to mention that the ban times noted are a guideline for admins and need not be followed to the letter - you can use your judgement to decide whether the penalties should be harsher or lighter than those mentioned. For example, a gold seller I will infinitely ban no matter the number of edits (one is enough) because it is obvious they are not here to contribute to the wiki. -- Kirkburn (talk) 20:11, 25 December 2006 (EST)

Update

Just did a small update to clarify methods of appeal and to include the above comment about block lengths being guidelines. Kirkburn  talk  contr 12:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
