Warcraft Wiki talk:Languages

So in the last month or so we seem to be running into more and more pages written in languages other than English. Sometimes they are guild pages, sometimes they are translated articles, and sometimes I have no idea what they are. Most of them have been deleted through a voting procedure, which seems to me to signify that we only support and want English language articles. I am not sure exactly how I feel. I think it is perhaps unfair to only support english, yet at the same time it would be a lot of work to try and manage other languages and I can't see any articles/sections in other languages every having enough information to actually be useful. Anyways I think if we are only going to support english language articles then we need to have a policy stating that. If we do want to support them than we probably need some kind of guidelines and mechanism to support them. So I created this page to eventually be the policy/guidelines, I would like to see some discussion on the topic and how people feel, then we have design a policy and have a vote. Lets hear everyones initial impressions on the subject.--Ralthor 01:25, 8 July 2006 (EDT)

It would only be viable if it was in a different area of the wiki - we can't have the english and other language pages getting mixed up together as it would only cause confusion and would be a total mess ... imagine 'random page' otherwise :) (i.e. it would need something like en.wowwiki.com and de.wowwiki.com, or some other difference) -- Kirkburn 13:41, 18 July 2006 (EDT)
I agree with Kirkburn. My main language is Portuguese, and I think WoWWiki should stay in English. Maybe europeeans can mantain another language Wiki... --Dsaraujo 10:46, 29 August 2006 (EDT)
