Icon trash

I went through your icon trash page and found some of the icons ok. Take a look when you can. Pzychotix 20:37, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Gotcha. Nice work on doing the icon cats btw. Pzychotix 20:51, 29 August 2006 (EDT)

Icons, yet again

I was basically wondering how you were choosing beetween JPG and PNG for the icons. Myself I know nothing about graphical files, but it would be nice to work on some sort of unification of the file type, so that it is straightly usable for everyone.

As for an example,  [Felheart Pants] are using a PNG icon whereas  [Bloodvine Leggings] are using the JPG version of the same icon. At the moment also most of the Item files are using JPG. --Adys 19:13, 15 September 2006 (EDT)

I surely can help! What would be nice is to create a system for the users of the wiki, making edits easier... Meaning if we don't choose either all .jpg or all .png, keeping a list of which icon is in what format. If you need help either making it or in whatever work you're planning, make sure to /poke me --Adys 12:14, 19 September 2006 (EDT)
Looking at the very small amount of jpg icons chosen btw, would it be worth it uploading it all png and massively changing them all? Or maybe make a general PNG rule and putting the JPG exceptions in a list? just a general thought --Adys 19:39, 24 September 2006 (EDT)

Look, icons!

Hullo! If you're sure some icons can be removed (I noticed something like that on your ToDo page), just give me a poke and tell me what I can get rid of, or stick speedydelete on the relevant ones :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 11:04, 19 September 2006 (EDT)

Icons tagged for speedy by User:Adys

I'm fairly certain that Adys is doing the right thing but I wanted to double check with you since you're the iconophile ;-)

There's a sizeable list of icons listed for deletion on Category:Articles for speedy deletion. Are you ok with zapping those? (See also User talk:Adys)   --Mikk (T) 12:05, 20 September 2006 (EDT)

Oh and grats btw :-)   --Mikk (T) 12:08, 20 September 2006 (EDT)

jpg icon template

I started to replace JPG icons as you suggested. I also thought about a template we could add to each JPG icon replaced and which would eventually be replaced by {{speedydelete}} at the end of the reorganization. See source comments for more infos --Adys 08:15, 26 September 2006 (EDT)

You can tag them with whatever you like, really. We're real people doing the deleting - not robots. Just tell us admins what to delete and when and we'll be right on it :-) It doesn't even have to be a category; checking the "What links here" for a template of your choice works equally well.   --Mikk (T) 08:34, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
As you wish :) I'm not sure whether Tusva wanted to delete them right now, so a tag would avoid (hopefully) people to use these icons. Just want to make it the simplest for both Tusva and admins :D
Removed the category tag, unless there is simpler to do I'll create this and it'll be deleted after the reorganization :-) --Adys 08:51, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Haha. I didn't really wish anything at all. Just trying to make life easier on y'all ;-)   --Mikk (T) 08:57, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
As long as the .JPG isn't connected to any articles, I'd say definitely mark it for deletion. I'd also like to look at the feasibility of drafting either a policy or a notice to contributors that may potentially be uploading unnecessary icons to a) check our list first and if it's not there, b) upload a .PNG. --Tusva 08:59, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Like so?   --Mikk (T) 10:12, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Hrmph. We need an image upload guideline. I'll get to work on it.   --Mikk (T) 10:19, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
There we go: Project:Image guidelines.   --Mikk (T) 10:39, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Excellent work Mikk :-) I started marking some JPGs, and switching together JPG/PNG categorized icons. --Adys 10:44, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Aye, looks great! Nicely done :D --Tusva 11:59, 26 September 2006 (EDT)
Okay, all jpg icons categorized and undercategorized as Category:WoW Icons: Ability and Category:WoW Icons: Trade have been deleted and replaced correctly by their png twin and all articles have been modified to reflect the changes :-p Ill start Spells now and finish it asap... Inventory left then :P --Adys 21:38, 27 September 2006 (EDT)
EDIT: Spells done, Inventory left --Adys 16:10, 30 September 2006 (EDT)
Still going... Image:Spell_Holy_PowerInfusion.png was uploaded as Image:Spell_Holy_Power_Infusion.jpg (note the additionnal space), on my list it seems it doesnt take the space, do you have any confirmation? I uploaded and categorized it as PowerInfusion, feel free to change if its wrong --Adys 02:24, 30 September 2006 (EDT)
Yep, PowerInfusion is correct, good catch! --Tusva 02:29, 30 September 2006 (EDT)

Missing Icons

A few icons were missing on the list, I uploaded them on the way but Im not sure at all they are all here

→ List moved to User:Adys/Dev --Adys 16:34, 4 October 2006 (EDT)

linky

Lookin good.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Template:Settable/Darkmantle_Armor

Added set name link to a few of the new templates. gonna head home in a few so youll have to finish the rest ;)

also, Priest_sets looks like the 2 navigation bars overlap each other. Paladin_sets doesn't.. may want to check that out. CJ 10:52, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

Ah, good call. I'll go through the ones I've done so far and follow suit with future ones. As for the sets pages, I didn't actually implement those nav bars, but I'll definitely see if I can't tweak 'em. Cheers. --Tusva 10:59, 20 October 2006 (EDT)

Icon Cleaning

Hey Tusva! I was browsing Wowpedia the other day and came across a collection of icons that do not have the transparent background but instead they have black corners, which in my opinion look horrible on the Wiki, admittedly these corners can also be seen in-game on some buffs, but I would still like to eliminate them. I was thinking that I could go through all the icons that have this black background on it and make them transparent, not sure how long it will take, whether it would interfere with what you are doing, or whether you are allready doing this with the PNG process... Just wanted to get your opinion on it, thanks in advance.

I am doing the JPG -> PNG transfer at the moment (Even tho I couldnt last few days because of Internet down><). Tbh I dont think the Black corner removing is necessary, it sometimes get removed by Blizz in certain patches, and it would be too much of a hassle to go through them all one by one. Not even speaking of the future expansion icons (over 2000 will get added eventually). Check my user page for more infos :) --Adys 08:09, 30 October 2006 (EST)
Aye, I would wait until Adys is done doing all of the transfers before you start replacing any icons. I personally don't think it's such a bad idea, however, like Adys said, there's gonna be a lot to replace and even more to edit come the expansion. As long as you can keep the same size dimensions and keep the .PNG format, I say go for it. Maybe you can post a few examples before doing hundreds of them? --Tusva 08:42, 30 October 2006 (EST)
Okay, then I will leave it, thanks for the replies. --Bull3t 13:53, 30 October 2006 (EST)

Your User Page Icons

I especially like your use page icons that you have made, for your character. Can I ask how you did it, or if you didn't make them where did you get them from? --Bull3t 03:50, 30 October 2006 (EST)

I used the WoW Model Viewer program along with Photoshop and Imageready to make the character icon and background image. If you haven't messed around with the Model Viewer, I heartily suggest it! --Tusva 08:42, 30 October 2006 (EST)
The Model Viewer has the backgrounds too, with the border of the character icon and fancy background? Wow! I will try it out again for sure, thanks. --Bull3t 13:53, 30 October 2006 (EST)
The border of the icon is actually the border taken from the official WoW forum Icons which I spliced my animated .gif into. The fancy background is actually a model of a doodad taken from the Scarlet Monestary instance, I think. --Tusva 13:57, 30 October 2006 (EST)
You think you could send me the doodad, please? Hehe, would love to make myself one of them, they are too cool, thanks in advance. --Bull3t 14:25, 30 October 2006 (EST)

Debuffs

As you saw, I started some erzatz of Spell categorization etc (was mainly at start to get rid of the unused icons :-p). I'm really glad you picked that up :) As for the categories, I thought at first it would be a good idea to include talents and so on in a general Spells category. Anyways, back to my icons ;) --Adys 15:22, 3 November 2006 (EST)

Aye, the various Spells and Buffs are all floating around so I figured it's high time to start cleaning 'em up. Feel free to throw your input at any of the stuff I'm doing (namely the tooltip template and category organization). Plus, it's an excuse to implement our freshly organized icons! ;) --Tusva 15:32, 3 November 2006 (EST)
I'm slowly working on a boilerplate, you can find it here. At the moment, I am trying to position some of the text tooltip to the right instead of following the left without screwing up the rest of the table. I also need to make a better table for the descriptions etc (such as [Hibernate]). Rather have a solid boilerplate right at the start, instead of having to modify it all once again every time we change it :-) --Adys 03:55, 4 November 2006 (EST)
Hmm, I think there's some confusion. The tooltips I implemented are basically only supposed to be just the tooltip with the duration, not including all of the spell information. I'm just focusing on the actual buff/debuff, which doesn't have a cooldown or any of that. Maybe you were thinking of something more complex? --Tusva 15:28, 4 November 2006 (EST)
Well the plan over time would be to eventually include all these infos, but can be outside the tooltip, edit at will =) --Adys 17:22, 4 November 2006 (EST)
By the by, for the few buffs/debuffs I've added in tooltips, I used some new templates that could always be tweaked, rather than using a boilerplate and pasting that into every page. See Template:Tooltip_Buff, Template:Tooltip_Debuff, Template:Tooltip_MagicDebuff, Template:Tooltip_CurseDebuff, Template:Tooltip_PoisonDebuff & Template:Tooltip_DiseaseDebuff. Going to go ahead and stick with these for adding more, though I'd always be up for additional feedback/input. --Tusva 09:09, 6 November 2006 (EST)

Again, welcome!   --Fandyllic (talk) 8:22 AM PST 7 Nov 2006

Yay!

Thumbs up for keeping up the icon work while Semi-offline, I'll be back either tomorrow or in the next days. :) --Adys 20:04, 15 November 2006 (EST)

Expanding {{effect}} to settables

How about something like that? --Adys 20:44, 3 December 2006 (EST)

If that's the route we're going down (giving every Spell object it's own ID/page) then that's fine, though I really don't see a huge need for linking it (since it states the same information and doesn't provide any additional). --Tusva 10:29, 5 December 2006 (EST)

Welcome back!

I think the title says it all ... Smiley.gif User:Kirkburn/Sig 16:17, 19 January 2007 (EST)
