With regard to parentheses around if conditions, they aren't required but I think many people find them useful to clarify where the condition is ending. I can't speak for Alex, but they're so common in other programming languages I just put them in instinctively, it hadn't even crossed my mind not to! Having said that, looking at more established Lua code it seems that this isn't common practice. -- Goldark 09:58, 16 Dec 2004 (EST)
