Inspired by Rawr, I created the Pinnacle Gear Sets ranking engine at http://www.purplefrog.com/~thoth/wow/exp/ . It experiments with different pieces of gear to maximize a character scoring function. Many sites rank gear, but only mine says "this is the best combination available". It is also horribly out of date, and no longer in development.
