Nylaria of the Maelstrom - or, as she's more commonly referred to as, simply Nylaria - is a night elf currently stationed on the Broken Isles.

History

Relatively young by night elf standards, Nylaria was once a Watcher who dutifully and proudly served her people. When the call sounded out that the Betrayer had been found on the Broken Isles attempting to break into the Tomb of Sargeras and retrieve the Eye for his own purposes, Nylaria and many of the other Watchers followed Maiev and Naisha to chase down Illidan and put a stop to him. As history knows, however, the mission went horrifically askew with many night elf sisters losing their lives that day.

Nylaria and her small party never made it inside the Tomb, having been routed by Illidan's army before they could reach Maiev's side. Nylaria's sisters-in-arms returned back to Darnassus as venerated war heroes yet Nylaria, feeling as if though she owed her leader a great debt, refused a hero's homecoming and stayed on the shores of the Broken Isles, vowing to watch over the Tomb so long as she still lived.
