The Gates of Grim Batol is the first instance in the Grim Batol instance hub, it is meant for player from 79 to 82. In order to access the other instances of Grim Batol (excepted for the Titan's Mine) you have to "cross" the Gates.

Inside the instance you will mainly come across red dragons. The dragons guarding Grim Batol have been maipulated by Deathwing and are therefore mad.

The Troll Quarters

The instances first steps are marced by black dragons in humanoid form, they all chose the troll form. The is no notable mob or boss in this area.

Acridistrasz

Acridistrasz is a young red dragon, he has completly lost his mind and thinks that any adventurer he crosses is sent by Neltharion in order to kill him.

Fighting him is rather easy, you find him in a rectangular room wich has 3 little platform that look just like the ones in the Lyceum in the Blackrock Depths. At 90, 70, 40 and 5% Acridistrasz will fly up into the air and fire a very big flame onto the ground, to escape this you will just have to go on the platforms, on the platforms you will not be able to hit the dragon.

Baleflame

Baleflame is a female red dragonspawn flametongue, she has two fellow dragonspawns that will heal her and themselves. On a regular basis she will spawn groups of drachkin that will attack the group in different ways.

Garshilan

Garshilan, the final boss of this instance, is a powerful red dragon. He deliberetly manipulates the other red dragons in Grim Batol having been seduced by Deathwings immense power, he now is one of his minions.

Garshilan's room is filled with eggs on the sides, randomly either black or red whelps come out of the eggs if a player gets to close to them. The red ones will heal Garshilan, the black ones deal damage to the group. Every now and then the boss will call for help, summoning four to five black dragonspawns fighting the group and kicking them back (possibly into the eggs). As many of his fellow dragons his tail will kick you back and deal damage, he also regularly breathes fire.

On the heroic mode there is an achievement requesting to kill Garshilan and 30 whelps (black or red).

At the instances end you can find a chamber that has three new portals leading to the Forge, the Towers and to Deathwing's Lair.

Once you have defeated Garshilan and you reenter the Gates you can choose to directly be forwarded to this chamber and acess the following instances.
