Background
A monstrous C'Thraxxi servant of Yogg-Saron with plates of saronite fused to his body. The black flames of the Void burn within the heart of this fiend.
Overview
Yogg-Saron unleashes his last and mightiest C'thraxxi servant to shatter the heroes of Azeroth.
Abilities
Phase One
Nurlathortar's Abilities
Saronite Eruption — Bombards multiple target locations with shards of explosive saronite that deal damage in an area of effect, as well as causing several Saronite Fissures to erupt in large areas.
Saronite Fissure — An eruption bursts that deals lethal damage to anyone caught in it. Fissures continue to burn after forming, dealing heavy periodic fire damage to anyone who stands in them.
Cleaving Strike — Nurlathortar's attacks cleave, splitting his damage between his primary target and another target.
Volatile Strike — Nurlathortar strikes a massive blow at a nearby target area, dealing lethal damage to anyone in it and creating a Saronite Eruption.
Pulverize — Nurlathortar faces a random target and unleashes a radiating strike that causes multiple eruptions of flame in an expanding wave that damage and knock up those struck, dealing heavy damage.
Dark Flames of the Void — Nurlathortar surrounds himself with the black flames of the Void, creating a shield that damages any who attack him. Also enlarges the radius of all Saronite Fissures.
Voidfire Orb — Orbs of dark flame spawn from all Saronite Fissures and move towards Nurlathortar. Each orb that comes into contact with him will empower one use of Volatile Strike, causing it to deal heavy raid-wide damage when used. Heroes can absorb a Voidfire Orb by coming into contact with it.
Burning Voidfire — Infuses the hero who touches a Voidfire Orb with the dark power of the Void itself. Increases damage and movement speed, while dealing periodic damage.
Phase Two - The Iron N'raqi
Nurlathortar will periodically leave the area and summon a pair of Iron N'raqi to enter and attack. The phase ends when both N'raqi are slain. Nurlathortar will use the following abilities while he is out of combat. Nurlathortar clears all existing Saronite Fissures when he leaves.
Seething Saronite Fumes — The area will slowly fill with Seething Saronite Fumes that place a stacking debuff on all targets. At 100, targets are instantly slain. The debuff can only be removed when both Iron N'raqi are slain.
Saronite Eruption — Bombards multiple target locations with shards of explosive saronite that deal damage in an area of effect, as well as causing several Saronite Fissures to erupt in large areas. This ability is cast much more frequently in Phase Two.
Saronite Fissure — An eruption bursts that deals lethal damage to anyone caught in it. Fissures continue to burn after forming, dealing heavy periodic fire damage to anyone who stands in them.
Collapsing Fissure — Nurlathortar will transform all Saronite Fissures into Collapsing Fissures. Standing in these fissures will absorb all stacks of Seething Saronite Fumes. A Collapsing Fissure will detonate when it collapses completely, dealing lethal damage to anyone standing in it.
Iron N'raqi Abilities
Iron Lash — Deals a heavy burst of damage to the target, reducing their healing for a short time.
Saronite Fiendling — Periodically summons hordes of Saronite Fiedlings that swarm random targets and deal physical damage. Iron N'Raqi will use this ability whenever Nurlathortar casts Collapsing Fissure.
Eldritch Link — If the difference of health of the two Iron N'raqi is greater than 5%, they will deal periodic damage to all targets until their health returns to within 5% of each other. The Iron N'raqi must be slain within 10 seconds of each other, or the living N'raqi will revive the slain on with 20% health.
Each Iron N'raqi will also randomly gain two of the four following abilities.
Erupting Saronite Shard — Places several shards of saronite at random locations. After several seconds, these fragments detonate dealing heavy damage in a large area. Attacking the shards will knock them back, but will also reduce their detonation timer by 1 second.
Soul Devour — Tears loose the souls of several heroes and links them to the caster, then begins a casting timer. The caster also gains a shield that prevents them from being interrupted while it is active. The caster can move and use other abilities normally while Soul Devour is active. If the cast is not interrupted, the souls of those affected will be devoured and they will instantly die.
Devouring Voidzone — Places several Devouring Voidzones that deal heavy periodic damage to all targets standing in them.
Encroaching Shadows — Swirling dark energy gathers around random targets, dealing periodic damage to those within it. Multiple Encroaching Shadows can overlap and stack damage.
Strategy
Nurlathortar will begin the encounter by casting Saronite Eruption once. He will then use all of his phase one abilities. The heroes must avoid Nurlathortar's lethal attacks, avoiding both Volatile Strike and the resulting Saronite Fissure, as well as Pulverize. Heroes must also manage Dark Flames of the Void, ensuring that Nurlathortar does not absorb too many Voidfire Orbs, or his subsequent uses of Volatile Strike will overwhelm the raid with damage. Placement of Saronite Fissures is also important, as their size increases during Dark Flames of the Void, and poor placement can result in the entire area being overtaken in lethal flame.
Periodically, phase two will begin, and the Iron C'Thraxxi will leap out of the combat area and summon a pair of Iron N'raqi. Both n'raqi must be kept at comparable health, or they will deal heavy damage to the raid until their health is equalized. Each Iron N'raqi will gain a random pair of abilities out of a total of 4, and employ them throughout the phase. Heroes must also deal with the stacking debuff Seething Saronite Fumes, which will slay them if they allow it to reach 100. The debuff stacks quickly, so players must make use of Collapsing Fissures to siphon off as many of their stacks as they can. Phase two ends when both Iron N'raqi are slain, and the encounter will repeat from phase one, with Nurlathortar casting Saronite Eruption before returning to combat.
Mythic Changes
- Saronite Fissurefiend - Collapsing Fissures will spawn a Fissurefiend, which deals extra damage based on the number of Seething Saronite Fume stacks its fissure absorbed.
