In World of Warcraft: The Waking Dream, entry into the Emerald Dream will allow players access to all manner of magical and enigmatic ingredients to brew potent alchemy, forge armor and weapons, instill powerful enchantments and more. Faction dynamics play a huge role in The Waking Dream, and each profession, both gathering and crafting, will allow players access to spaces unique to their chosen fields and advance with minor factions, granting bonuses to their chosen craft.

Gathering Professions

The Emerald Dream is vast and ancient beyond reckoning, and provides access to more than a few unique materials for each gathering profession. Each zone within the Dream will have their unique herbs and ores while there will be a few specialty skinning items that are only available to a handful of zones. In-game help will make it easy for players to find the specific materials they need for their crafted item. Pigments and gems will be available from milling/prospecting any herb or ore from all zones, as per usual.

Herbs

  • Sleeping Seedpod - Common drop from all herbs in the Dream. "You can feel the serene indecisiveness of these pods, as if they have not quite determined what they will grow into when planted."
  • Silverbell - Found in Tal'Theril Woodlands. "In the slightest wind, the metallic flowers of this plant make the most delightful chime."
  • Apostle's Hood - Found in Mashan'she. "It is said this flower blooms only in the presence of great faith."
  • Feverfew - Found in Vorlassar Sierra.
  • Loftbloom Orchid - Found in Arborheight.
  • Atzi's Chandelier - Found in Urs'var Barrow.
  • Fractal Folly - Found in The Sleepless Edge. "Whenever you prick your finger on one of the glass-like spines, you are reminded of a wrong decision you've made."
  • Mother-of-Thousands - Found in Ivyspine Coast.
  • Vordralli Sapling - Rare herb found in any zone of the Dream. Often a target of World Quests. "A sapling of the corrupted world tree, Vordrassil. Its seeds have found purchase all across the Dream."

Mining

  • Living Stone - Found as a common drop from all ore deposits in the Dream.
  • Petrified Heartwood - Found in Arborheight.

Secondary Professions

Many secondary professions will have access to a minor Vestige, just like for their subspecialty. These are improved with quest lines and through inter-faction dynamics, allowing them to incrementally improve the quality of their goods.

Archaeology

(WIP)

Cultures:

  • Timeless Fossil: The timeless nature of the Dream fosters endless cycles of death and rebirth. From this, fossils of known and unknown species are preserved under our feet. Even deeper, in the lower, unfinished planes, one may find the remains of creatures who were never meant to be.
  • Fomorian: The touch of the Titans on the Emerald Dream was purposely limited to preserve the natural order of Azeroth. However, this is only apparent on the surface levels, and many machines hum underneath the ground, easily uncovered by even novice archaeologists.
  • Heruli: The study of the Heruli is more anthropology than archaeology, but their culture has advanced immeasurably within the span of a single generation. Scattered in the wake of this progress are valuable artifacts, charting the course of their industrial revolution.
  • Drev: The Drev are ancient and inscrutable, born of unfamiliar Wild Gods and cast away from the Emerald Dream. They are dedicated to a crusade of artificial selection, warping the flesh of living creatures and exposing them to the harshest environments in the hopes of drawing out new desirable traits. To the Drev, life is something to be honed and sharpened to a keen edge.
  • Antheran: The Anthera are a race of reclusive moth folk seemingly native to the caverns of Urs'var Barrow, utterly devoted to Elune, but their origins may be more muddled than that. The caves are full of ancient cities draped in silk, most utterly empty with relics waiting to be discovered. The oldest of these artifacts have markings nearly identical to those of the Nerubians, Qiraji and Mantid.

Cooking

Cooks will greatly expand their culinary chops and range of ingredients within the Dream, as what surrounds them is a bounty of every fruit, vegetable, herb, spice and meat that has ever lived. Cooks will have access to their own unique Vestige that they will expand upon through their gourmet adventures; a set of rare spices that will readily improve the quality of any dish.

Fishing

Anglers will have access to a unique Vestige, as well; a tackle box that you can stock with the choicest lures and bait to improve the qualities of their catch.

First Aid

First Aid practitioners will readily work with a minor faction, the Enkindlers, a troupe of Sidhe and other fey creatures that embody the restorative properties of fire; the nurturing warmth of the hearth, the purifying flame, the soothing balm of summer and the intoxicating scent of woodsmoke. By working closely with them, medics will improve a medical kit Vestige, complete with all the tonics, antivenoms and cures one could hope for.
