Template talk:Settip

disambigpage

This template doesn't use the disambigpage parameter for the link to the set, it only uses the name which will take you to the disambigpage. Imbued Netherweave and Imbued Netherweave (set) for example. Zurr TC 04:48, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Should be fixed with this revision. -- Starlightblunder 21:50, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Was following discussion on Gourra's and Jrooksjr's talk pages about using
in {{tooltip}} and {{settip}}. What happens when an actual line break character is used:

item1
item2

vs item1
item2, or presumably,

item1
item2

which I presume is the formation that breaks things.

I very much dislike fragile code, and would hope that either of the first two solutions is adequate to the task. I am quite interested in why the third option (presumably) breaks the template. Does anyone have a demonstration of just how it breaks? Have I misunderstood the issue? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:27, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, per Gourra:
This is bad:
item1
item2

This is good:
item1
item2

This is also bad:
item1
item2

The question remain: What, precisely, breaks, and why? Is it because of multiple levels of template inclusion? Some other reason? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:35, September 1, 2009 (UTC)

Should Templates be used to categorize items in the future - Recomendations

  • Sets
    • Category:World of Warcraft armor item sets, shortened to Category:WoW armor item sets, when |set= is used.
    • Category:<class> sets (when |set= as well as |class= is used)
    • Category:Arena season # sets (added when |set= is used and may need new parameters ((not visibly shown)) to determine when the type |settype= (Dungeon, Tier or Arena) and |setnum= (Tier # armor sets, Dungeon set # armor sets or Arena Season # sets)
    • Category:Dungeon set # armor sets (works off same parameters mentioned in Category:Arena season # sets)
    • Category:Tier # armor sets (works off same parameters mentioned in Category:Arena season # sets)

Already too complex. You've designated perhaps 4 parameters that would affect what set/linkage is being specified. I would prefer a system where you specify a set name, entire, for one parameter. Gain categorization from that, if you must. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:38, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
