Template talk:Distinguish

Should this template be modified so that if there are only one (or possibly two) arguments, then a "description" (or "desc") parameter(s) would be allowed, containing a short description of the alternative page? For instance, the Lei Shen page says:

Not to be confused with Lei Shi.

but I would prefer it to read:

Not to be confused with Lei Shi, the Terrace of Endless Spring boss.

This would aid people who are genuinely confused, instead of forcing them to look at multiple pages to figure out which one they really wanted. Unfortunately the fact that it always ends with a period makes it impossible to work around manually.

Unrelatedly, I always prefer the more literal naming so I wish this template was called "noconfuse", but what's done is done :)

This template is intended for a quick distinguishing purpose. We also have {{for}} and {{this}}, which may suit your needs more. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:40, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
It seemed to me that those templates were for disambiguation between articles that ACTUALLY had the same name or subject, whereas this was intended for potentially confusable entries that were not in fact related. But....perhaps it's not altogether necessary to tell the reader that he is confused in the process of pointing her in the right direction, and those templates would do just fine :) - jerodast (talk) 09:10, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
We also have {{about}}, we have so many lol. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 18:57, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Again, that one seems to be about different uses of the same term, and this is the only one I see about confused uses of different terms. But also again, I have no problem with just using them interchangably haha. - jerodast (talk) 15:48, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
