Should this be a template? Also missing texture tags

This is a noble attempt to standardize the documentation of these substitution functions, but the most appropriate place for this info is in a section in the Macro API, since these are functions. In any case, they're definitely not "modifiers" - they retrieve information about units from the game world, they don't just modify other chat text. Generally, functions available across an entire class of commands (specifically, chat commands) are best documented in their own section, not repeated for every single function that can use them. Transclusion makes this manageable but that doesn't mean it's the right choice.

Additionally, the {triangle} / {rt2} family of functions behaves very similarly in all the same places, so they should be documented in the same place. But putting them here would bog down those nice tidy API entries for MACRO say and such! Yet another reason to give it its own distinct section. I'm doing just that based on the similar section from UI escape sequences (another ill-fitting place for them), see the Macro API talk page for more discussion.

For now I'll just leave this template and its transcluding pages alone. - jerodast (talk) 21:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
