Request to Merge, Removed

I've removed the request to merge with Template:Blizzforumlink because the two templates serve different purposes. This one is for block citations while the other is just for inline links.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 18:39, 19 January 2007 (EST)

Usage

Should this be used for things like quoting developer chats? Example —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tyrsenus (talk · contr).

Now with error checking

Now if you use a badly formatted date, it should show up in the Articles with a date parse error category. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 6:35 PM, 9 Jun 2009 (EDT)

Line breaks

Is it intended for line breaks to be removed from the body of posts? There are plenty of multiline/multiparagraph blue posts. I thought that templates in general preserved line breaks but I could be wrong.

This patch fixes blah, blah, blah. Of course, you could also say something else on another line.

That example is coded as 2 lines but obviously only one displays. (Side note - is it possible to use a specific revision of a template so that this example always looks like it does now instead of changing when the "production" code is updated, potentially making my example contradict what I'm saying?)

I used the "br /" tag to force line breaks in one example but I believe whatever formatting goes on in this template makes the result look a bit more widely spaced than it's supposed to be - that is, more widely spaced than it is on the forums. Basically on the forums there's like half a line break between the header and the body, and it makes sense to also have that half a line between the body and the footer link that this template inserts, but WITHIN the body line breaks should just be 1 line with no extra padding. - jerodast (talk) 16:35, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
