Rift participation

The rifts don't seem to be on a random spawn timer at all. For the past few days, I've been doing these with various characters, and they have always spawned at :00 server time, and if I waited around for it instead of actively closing it, closed at :10 server time. Whether or not I closed it, if I waited around, another rift would spawn at :00 of the next hour. Colanai (talk) 21:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Additionally, you don't have to actively participate in closing the rift to get credit for the buff/achievement. I have twice been alt-tabbed out of the game while the rift opened and was closed by other players (both times with Lakeshire's Earth rift). I tabbed back in and had the appropriate buff. Without participating in closing another rift of that type, when I received the other three buffs, I was still awarded the achievement. Colanai (talk) 22:06, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

There seems to be some indications from Zarhym's forum comments that the frequency of the rift spawns are picking up, or will soon. Initially, I had timed them at about an hour apart. Last week they were about 50-55 minutes apart. This week the interval seems to be shorter, but I'm hesitant to assume that's true across the board. Can someone else confirm that the rifts seem to be spawning every 45 minutes now?

I can positively confirm the 45 minute timer now. See my comment on Wowhead. Chairman Kaga (talk) 07:11, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I am going to stand around at a spawn point for a few hours tonight and record my findings. I'll be back with a few data points in a few hours. Colanai (talk) 00:46, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I believe the spawn timer is even shorter now, somewhere around 25 minutes - Found one at 19:28 (don't know when it had spawned), killed it, went afk and when I came back at 19:48, 20 minutes later, the rift was back up. Went back to check again at 20:15 and the same rift was already back up. 4th spawn came up at 20:39. Can anyone confirm a ~25 minute respawn timer? Seahenar (talk) 19:40, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

I went to the coordinates posted for Terokkar & Hellfire Pen. No rifts had spawned at any of the locations marked. (In particular Falcon Watch & Stonebreaker Hold.) Also note that rifts *CAN* bug out and while a rift will spawn *NO* elementals may spawn. Magor1988 (talk)

Beautifying the table

The table needs to be "beautified". Hans Kamp (talk) 21:03, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Hopefully the tables are easier to read now. Arten (talk) 03:36, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Image

Is there an image of what these rifts look like? I've yet to see one. Or are they going to be active at some later time, perhaps? Myrlen Midnightstar (talk) 21:33, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

I'll try and capture one the next time I see it - usually too busy fighting them and the mobs. Some images already available at wowhead: http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=4887#screenshots Tequima (talk) 14:30, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Added a sub-zone in-game map+edit for Scholazar as I do not know how to convert in-game zone references (now included in the table for "Wind" - approximate in some cases) into the same format as the Northrend map markings. Feel free to add them to Northrend map and delete this one accordingly (or add additional sub-zone maps?). Can someone also add instructions to the editing help pages for doing these raid-icons-on-an-image editing to help us newbie editors? Thanks Tequima (talk) 14:22, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Converted, and they're up now. Put {{sd}} tag up on the image as its no longer needed. As for converting the numbers, I dunno if there is an EASY way to do it, I just eyeballed it, and moved the triangles around via lots of hitting preview til they looked right. Added the notes in. Table needs re-formatting, I think as, though it's fine on my wide screen it may wrap incorrectly on smaller ones. Can someone add a post to the NA forum (I have an EU account) to point people to here, please? http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=27508583776&sid=1&pageNo=1. There are unconfirmed reports that, to get the debuff from a lower level rift, you need someone of the appropriate level to tackle the elemental first (and this can be an npc) or the elementals will despawn Tequima (talk) 08:54, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

PS Anyone know what quest triggers King Varian Wrynn to yell: "With heroes like [Name] fighting on our behalf, Stormwind stands ready to face any Twilight's Hammer threat!" "There will be time enough to speak of preparations for the battle against Twilight's Hammer. Today, we celebrate [name]'s victory!" Tequima (talk) 01:17, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Questions

  • Does the buff need to be simultaneous? Tequima (talk) 14:57, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Not really. Just need to have one of each atleast one time during the event Alchemic Warrior of Travels (talk) 05:13, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Quite a few suggestions on the Thottbot pages. Personally I did it whilst doing dailies. Tequima (talk) 17:44, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

"Level Range"

There seems to be disagreement as to what the purpose of the "level range" column in the table is for. I thought it was supposed to indicate the official level range for the zone, but some people have been replacing it with the level of the rifts that appear in that zone. It might also be confused for the range at which a player is eligible for the daily quest from the rift, which is wider than the official level range for the zone. Can we form some sort of consensus so that there aren't conflicts? Dr. Cheis (talk) 08:10, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

I was under the impression that it was supposed to be the level range of the zone as well. My own assumption is that if you are within the level range of the zone that you could handle the the elementals that spawn there, and that you would be eligible for the daily quest. So the zone level range would be the most helpful to know in my opinion. Twiggaloo (talk) 19:21, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

The maps at the bottom of the page

Those maps were really neat when the page was first created but now they're dreadfully empty. Is there any way to make the maps reflect the coordinates as uploaded to the tables? I mean something that automatically converts zone coordinates to world map coordinates? I can't imagine anybody really wants to go stand at each spot on the map and figure out what coordinates to add to the continent maps. Dr. Cheis (talk) 08:10, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Fire powered

Can anyone confirm that the debuff only stacks to 3, not 5 as the tooltip indicates? Have only ever had it stack to 3, at which point it only seems to refresh the debuff without adding anymore stacks, still dealing (at 80) 240 a tick instead of 320/400 Seahenar (talk) 17:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
