This article seems very similar to Aggro, except for the TPR list (which seems like a warrior-specific interest) - should the two articles be merged? TheMaster42 14:16, 4 May 2006 (EDT)

Think so, or maybe even delete this article since the values in these tables arent of much value any more. --Zootsko 20:45, 4 May 2006 (EDT)

Where does the threat values for the abilities listed come from?--Zootsko 08:12, 23 March 2006 (EST)

From where on Thottbot? The Thottbot entrys of the individual warrior abilities does not list any threat values, as far as I can see. --Zootsko 11:59, 5 April 2006 (EDT)

Some corrections and additions - in the TPR list Shield slam is listed twice, the first entry should be labelled "shield bash". Sunder armour costs 15 rage, and as such generates 70 TPR and not 99 TPR. Also, are there any solid figures on the threat generated by a critical strike vs. that of a normal one?

sunder armor TPR is dependant on the talents you've used,
ps, table updated. CJ 08:53, 24 March 2006 (EST)

What do these figures reflect? Is the threat bonus from Defensive Stance in here? What about Defiance? My0p1c

The listed threat values stem from Cop's tests. See his report for details. --Zootsko 11:22, 21 April 2006 (EDT)

Shield slam in 1.11 : 20 Rage cost. so 97,5 threat per rage. making it the new best talent for warriors to use a lot. CJ 08:06, 16 May 2006 (EDT)

I believe it would be useful to mention the Druid's [Challenging Roar] ability somewhere. I realize that it doesn't add or remove threat but it does affect the mob's hate list temporarily, and may be useful for beginner druid tanks to understand the ability. -Smack005 16:07, 12 August 2008 (MST)

Threat article updated

Moving the Threat information out of the Formulas:Aggro page, to clean up the flow. For older Threat discussions, there are some sections on Talk:Formulas:Aggro, or archived there. --Phaze 15:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

There is a disagreement on the value of threat reduced via  [Shrouding Potion], and this page. The potion page says 800, this page says 1500. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dragonteuthis (talk · contr).

Wrath threat values

I am updating this article with known post-Wrath threat values for the abilities I can. I am not properly citing my sources because I know from my research this is (reasonably) accurate. However, I also understand that such a statement is unacceptable for other people wishing to verify my claims; the information is culled from various sources, including TankSpot (for example http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f200/39775-wow-3-0-threat-values.html), Elitist Jerks, and Wowhead. If you would prefer stricter citations feel free to revert my edits and do your own research; in the mean time, though, these values are badly outdated and very misinformative for newbies visiting the article, so I feel it's worth tossing my effort out to revise them. Plus, it's numbers. And numbers are fun. --AudreyChandler (talk) 06:04, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Table arrangement, new Pandaria item(s)

I've tweaked the tables around slightly but I think they could do with a bigger overhaul. Each class header only has one to three abilities (hunter pet entries excepted), which means lots of space burned up with those full-row class labels. Classes should be put on the same row with each ability, nearly halving the space usage. The tables are already broken up between auras and other abilities; this job should be completed (in the process making the table lengths less imbalanced) by breaking out taunts, threat gains, and threat reductions into separate tables.

Alternatively, if it's desired to get back to "Threat tables per class" as advertised, the class headers can stay in, with auras and abilities in the same space. With a simple phrase like "5.0x modifier to all threat while active", I don't think it would be at all confusing having them in the same table - after all, the right hand table already has multiple types of thread modifications listed back to back, and it's perfectly understandable. In this case, tables might be separated into "tanking", "threat reduction & transfer", and "classes with both threat gains and reductions".

Also, I can think of at least one Pandaria item that needs adding, the one that drops from Jademist Dancers and acts like a Vanish.

I'd do this now but I'm really trying to wrap up everything I started in the last couple days :) I will return. - Jerodast (talk) 20:21, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Ha, I can now see that Phaze had this exact same debate with himself on the Talk:Aggro page 6 years ago and came to the conclusion producing the current setup. Ah, the pendulum of time... Anyway, things have changed a lot since then, I'll probably just try both styles and see what works best. I hope we can all agree that the current version looks really silly though.
By the way, where are all the non-damaging abilities' threats? Your sunders, your shouts...I don't know where to find them but shouldn't they be on the table? I'll figure it out...sometime.

Legion Overhaul

Though we're very late into the expansion, it seems Legion has made some significant changes to Threat (and Threat gen will be getting modified again in BfA). So far I've only been able to find a very recent wowhead article about it (https://www.wowhead.com/news=284658/threat-generation-nerfed-for-tanks-in-battle-for-azeroth). Tank threat gen seems to be on a base 10x modifier now, instead of the 5x listed. But one of the biggest noticeable changes is that threat as a whole has been halved, so by default 1 point of damage is 0.5 threat, or 5 threat for tanks. I'll be scouring around for more sources before making an update myself. --Kanariya (talk) 17:49, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

From what I heard, BfA threat will be 1x for regulars and 4x for tanks, but I don't have this in writing. Just what I've heard. PeterWind (talk) 21:23, 29 May 2018 (UTC)

Collapsible Tables

I am trialing a new format where the large tables on this page are collapsible and may be expanded to view the information. I have also shortenned the writeup considerably to pertinent bullets since some information was getting duplicated or rather verbose.DDC (talk) 19:34, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
