Talk:Slice and Dice
Is the "allows more poison applications in a given time frame" statement correct? It was always my understanding that no matter what your attack speed was, procs (including poisons) would be applied at a constant rate. Am I mistaken? --Gamemastax 13:20, 11 Dec 2005 (EST)
- The Project:Reference desk would be a better place to ask this question; and I am sorry that I personally do not know the answer. -- ℑilver§ℑide 16:30, 11 Dec 2005 (EST)
- I've never played a rogue, so I'm not certain, but there's a couple things that are probably pretty certain.
- If poisons are applied each and every strike or if the proc rate is faster than the weapon speed, then yes it will allow more poison applications in a given time frame.
- Otherwise, it's not a correct statement.
- And since this question refers immediately to the article at hand, doesn't it indeed belong here? Schmidt 17:48, 11 Dec 2005 (EST)

The statement is correct, each strike has an x% chance to apply a poison. CJ 04:57, 12 Dec 2005 (EST)
- LOL. Then I didn't know what I was talking about. I thought I didn't really need to read the article to answer the question. So much for that! Schmidt 20:27, 12 Dec 2005 (EST)
- aye, it does give more. the proc per minute phrase doesnt mean a proc will happen every x minutes, its states the chance that the proc will happen each minute. say you have a 2.0 attack speed, with a 10% chance to proc per hit, the proc per min would be 10%x30(you attack every 2 seconds)=300% chance it will proc in a minute. so it would have a 33% chance, i beleive, as it should proc 3 times in a minute.
- increasing you attack speed with almost any proc will make it proc more often. say you have crippling poison with 20% chance to proc on 2 weapons, each at 1.8 speed. with slice and dice the proc % would stay the same, but both weapons would now be hitting at 1.26 i think. so it would hit more often, and thusly proc more often.--Haddon 20:51, 12 Dec 2005 (EST)
- I don't think I even knew about the PPM system when I wrote that, but even after learning about it, it was still my understanding that poisons were somewhat unique in that they still work off of a base % chance to proc per hit. I *could* be wrong about this, but I am about 95% sure that this is how they work. Hence the +% talents and the demand for very fast offhand weapons such as Julie's Dagger). (I'm not currently playing the game, though, so they may have changed all of this in a recent patch.)--Phuror 14:28, 16 Jan 2006 (EST)
Shouldn't
"The best strategy for slice and dice in raid setupts is as follows, Garrotte and immediately cast SnD, build 3 combo points and refresh SnD slightly before it ends, then build 5 combo points and refresh just before it is about to end / your energy would tick over 100 (this works assuming you are using Sinster Strike and have 3/3 Improved Slice and Dice, also know as 1 3 5 SnD). At this point you can alternate 5 combo point SnD and Rupture until the boss is dead."
go to Rogue Tactics? Plus, I think the strategy in question isn't always the optimal strategy, often shorter cycles (like 4s5r or 3s5r) are better. Tinunduil (talk) 18:24, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
