Do we know how long these quests are available after the opening of AQ? Forever? -- davidc

Seems like they're available forever. On a further note... completing Field Duty after patch 1.11... 1. Did not require a healer, since the NPCs have apparently learned healing spells. 2. When I turned my paper in for a Combat assignment, I instead recieved "Hive'Regal Dossier", containing all of the possible Hive'Regal combat assignments. And yes, I could turn in each one individually for a badge. Pretty sure you used to only get one.

Field Duty

When i wrote that article i observed the alliance NPCs taking down the bug solo, but i have always wondered wether that was "correct" behavour, do you know more about this? Any info would be appriciated, i dont like puzzles :> --Kaso 18:19, 8 July 2006 (EDT)

-- I know they didn't always do that, as I failed it when I attempted it solo as a warrior right when the quests came out. Anyway that section is pointless now, as they've given both factions' NPCs healing capabilities. Alliance captain now easily finishes the fight with more than 50% health, and I've observed the horde NPCs doing the same when I stopped by to watch. --My0p1c 19:06, 8 July 2006 (EDT)

When i wrote my re-vamp of this article i was in silithus taking the pictures and i tested the Healing of the horde NPCs out. Whilst the Shadow Priest woman *did* heal she didnt heal enough to keep any of the three "main" npcs up. However im near the zone now, im going to take a double check of that. --Kaso 19:10, 8 July 2006 (EDT)

I can confirm that in 1.11.1 the Alliance NPCs were able to solo the bug, but as of 1.11.2 the named NPC will be killed. It is very similiar to what Kaso describes, the paladin does heal but doesn't heal enough to keep Blackanvil alive. --Sixtus 14:05, 17 July 2006 (PDT)

Combat assignment hints

I was able to get all four inside the Dossier done at once, despite the Hive'Regal Burrowers being uncommon spawns. There is a dead end inside the cave complex where you'll always find one of these neutral bugs. I started there and made my way back and forth to the large room at the end (where Mistress Natalia and the glyphed stone are, though it's easy to avoid the former, killing as I went. There's also a Burrower in there and in the circular room near the beginning of the caves. I was at about 21 Burrowers when I finished the Ambushers, and had killed more than enough Spitfires and Slavemakers. So I camped out in the aforementioned little dead end, away from the aggro of the Slavemaker at the intersection. I could either do things with WoW in the background (like type this) or log out. When I got back there was always a Burrower there, and I got the rest in a few iterations of waiting and logging.--ClemSnide 01:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC))

Rename: Silithus Field Duty

No aspersions to the person who renamed this page to "Quest:Field Duty", it has never been solely about the quest. This page is actually a lot closer in spirit to Mithril Order quest chain in that it attempts to describe all items associated with the initial field duty quest, and it has since the page's inception.

One consequence of the current name is that a page that describes the actual quest is blocked.

Unless someone else assumes the duty first, I will wait a decorous period (that is, until I remember it again) before renaming it myself. If someone else has a better idea for a useful name, I'd be happy to hear it. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Given the content of the article, I would think it should be moved out of the "Quest:" namespace all together. Whether you change it to Field Duty quest chain or Silithus Field Duty or whatever is fine. -Howbizr (talk) 00:22, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Moved. g0urra[T҂C] 07:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Effectively the same quest

Updating

This page is marked to be cleaned up. And yup, I'll make a stab at it. Monday, probably. Meanwhile, anyone care to offer suggestions? Perhaps especially those who have seen my prose before, would you care to preempt me? :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 00:35, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

My own edits for this page are on hold pending discussion on Talk:Field Duty (quest). Feel free to edit to your own heart's content, though. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:54, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
