Theories

I wish to open up this discussion on possible theories as to the strange circle of stones surrounding the dragon skull on that hill right behind Seradane.

Upon this hill is a circle of stones. All of them bear faces clearly visible on their sides, but one in particular is also glowing with a mysterious blue light. In the center of this circle is the skull of what can be assumed to be a dragon.

Some of the questions which come to mind regarding this location are:

1. Who created the circle?
2. For what purpose was it created?
3. If it is truly a dragon skull in the center of it, whose is it?
4. Why is there one stone that is glowing blue?

One thing which I noticed recently is the fact that there are similar circles of stones in the Arathi Highlands, making up the various Circles of Bindings there.

So this would lead me to infer that perhaps the circle behind Seradane was created by the same beings who created the Circles of Bindings. I believe in the quest string regarding her, it is said that the Mountain Giants did this, though I'm not 100% sure of this.

This would also lead to the theory that the Seradane circle is truly meant to bind something or someone. In the Arathi Highlands, these Circles of Bindings were meant to keep Princess Myzrael trapped. So it could be assumed that in Seradane, there might be something trapped within that giant skull.

This is all I have at the moment, but I will be looking into things further. Please toss your ideas into the ring here as well.

I just discovered this location myself, so my interest in the matter is piqued. However, I'd be interested in knowing if similar "circles of binding" exist at the other three Great Tree locations in Darkshire, Feralas, and Ashenvale. Due to the correlation between the Nightmare Dragons spawning at these four locations, it could be a matter of the Dragons being bound to the different boughs. More likely than not, all of this will become more clear when the Emerald Dream material is finally wrapped and released, which may or may not coincide with the forthcoming Northrend expansion. Since there is a fifth "Great Tree" location in Northrend, it would be an opportunity for them to build on the pre-existing material.

This might actually serve as a good question to ask at the developer panels at BlizzCon. "WTF is up with Emerald Dream, yo?"
