Clean Up

Conducted a huge clean up in which I removed:

  1. Breadcrumb; it's not needed due to the Professions template seen in the article
  2. Table of Contents moved to the bottom of the foreword; much like a book, forewords come before contents and since the foreword of this article was pretty generic of all the professions (Stating the difference between primary/secondary etc) I thought it was appropriate.
  3. Removal of Armor Sets; there was only 3 and they were all TBC stuff. If we're going to link item sets we should have an Item set page for leatherworking.
  4. Merge of Leather Conversions; no need to have two tables.

Anyone has any problems with these pages feel free to talk about them here, user_Talk:Kiltek or Project talk:Warcraft pump User:Kiltek/Sig 05:09, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

The reason I started this that compared to Tailoring, Leatherworking is a mess - and so I tried adopt parts I liked - for example the sets/item collections Tailoring#Tailoring_Item_Collections - I just had no time to put in additional ones. Well, it's ok this way I just don't see Netherfury on the Leatherworking patterns - and that's the only bad thing, going to add it now  Flotsam | (talk / contr 08:30, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

Two Sepcializations?

What is this about someone getting two specializations (noted at the bottom of article)? There's no source. CCMCornell 09:56, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

I find the idea very unlikely. That section was added by Absolutely in late June under the guise of a "minor" edit, which seems suspicious. Absolutely has also, thus far, made no other contributions.

Would it be cleaner to have seperate articles for the Leatherworking specializations? The article is useful, but particularly long.

Multiple Specializations

I have removed the following section for lack of evidence.

Officially you can only have ONE specialization: Dragonscale, Tribal, or Elemental. You CAN however respec to a different tree, but you will have to relearn all of the LW recipes and start from 1/300 again. Go and read the book "Soothsaying for Dummies" in Tanaris when you are back up to 225 Leatherworking - this book will allow you to retrain as a Dragonscale/Tribal/Elemental Leatherworker. Interestingly, at least one LW has successfully learned both Dragonscale AND Tribal. Whether this is a glitch or an Easter egg is for others to discover. The secret is to talk to a non-craftsman NPC who is near to the specialist trainer, he/she may offer to teach you the bonus skill tree.

  • Unless someone can offer evidence or any kind of supporting information, I'd take the idea of having two specializations at once with a very large grain of salt. -- DarkRyder
  • I have a dragonscale leatherworker on the horde side. I visited both the STV and the Arathi trainers and there were no NPC's near either of them.

According to Thottbot, the book Soothsaying for Dummies IS intended to allow you to remaster a profession, but it apparently has never worked. Baryonyx 16:44, 30 August 2006 (EDT)

Patch 2.03 Changes

In the patch of 1/9/07, specialization requirements were removed for all patterns level 300 and under. This page desperately needs a rewrite as it is, but any more separation by specialization is unnecessary. The only implications of specialization are for soulbound armor sets in TBC. I will see if I can come up with a page revision for the profession as we know it. Luci 16:48, 10 January 2007 (EST)

  • OK, have overhauled the page. I organized the existing information into tables; however, I still think there is more work to be done. First - consider breaking the patterns off into their own page, like Blacksmithing Second, organize by slot (see Enchantments) or proficiency level (like Blacksmithing). We will need to overhaul when the Burning Crusade leatherworking information becomes available... but those are my thoughts for now. Luci 21:44, 10 January 2007 (EST)

Cost of Respecializing

I just respecialized my characater (on 5/28/07) and it only cost me 50 gold. Can someone else verify this? Maybe the cost goes up if you want to respecialize again?

Just one trainer to teach Artisian?

I havent trained in LW in a long time but I thought Artisan could be taught by more then one trainer now. yes / no??? ~Terry 21:16, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

"Almost Gaming" Guide is Horrible

That first link is probably the worst of all four. For the common user, buying your way to 375 is not exactly feasible. The guide literally suggests spending 300g on leather mats instead of gathering the loot off of corpses. (As if there were a lack of free leather in the world, or you have to travel great distances for the lower levels.) Since this is my first post, I decided not to delete it. I'd at least move it to the bottom, not the top. Five paragraphs + a couple of charts + several extraneous sentences + 300g = boo. At least the "Almost Gaming" part is apt. (IMHO) Schm0 01:22, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Not to mention outdated. User:Squallshaper/Sig2 03:34, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Unreadable tables

Many of the tables are unreadable in certain themes (like mine). --Crash (talk) 00:36, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Cata clean-up due

We're approaching the end of Cataclysm here, and yet this page hasn't been cleaned up since 2007. The specializations need to be noted as deprecated, and the section archived (as well as cleaned up, ugh.) Fur Linings and Legging Self-Enhancements also need to be updated to Cata.
