Brother

Is there a source which verifies that Falstad and Kurdran (and by extension, Maz) are actually related? From the way the inscription on the statue is worded, it sounds more like a relationship between brothers-in-arms than an actual biological one. Furthermore, the title of Thane Wildhammer is not hereditary:

"Wildhammer dwarves have a number of clans, each ruled by a Thane. The strongest Thane rules Aerie Peak.." --User:Vorbis/Sig 09:34, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

The rpg says that Thanes of Hinterlands are a hereditary monarchy. I'm pretty sure the rpg says that Kurdran and Falstad are true brothers.Baggins 09:43, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Edit: Hang on! I've just read the Maz Drachrip article. It sounds like he's possibly related to Kurdran, but it's a bit fuzzy on how hereditary monarchy meshes with this concept of challenging for leadership. --User:Vorbis/Sig 10:00, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually it was specifically Thane of Aerie Peak.

Fair enough. But considering that Magni Bronzebeard is the son of Madoran Bronzebeard, Khardros Wildhammer is likely to be either the father or a very close relative of Kurdran and Falstad. It kinda makes this duel for leadership thing entirely pointless as no-one has managed to knock the Wildhammer family from their perch for at least 600 years. --User:Vorbis/Sig 10:25, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

True, we don't know the direct relationship of Khardros. He's probably at the most a grand father, he could be their father. Or he could be a close cousin. Also it was less than 600 years. Remember the war of the three hammers happened only about 250-300 years ago. It started not long after Anvilmar's death. At that time Anvilmar was in charge of everyone, and Wildhammer's were living in Dun Morogh and Ironforge.

Well it sounds more likely that if the duels have been happening, the winners have always come from the same family. I.E. those that compete probably include several individuals from Kurdran, Maz, Falstad branch of the Wildhammer Clan, as well as the other smaller clans. Yet, since the specific family branch has been winning, its been enough for them to have been considered a Hereditary Monarchy. However there is still the potential that some of the other clans could somehow take the position at some point. I just wish we knew what Maz direct relationship was, other than "hereditary", if he was father, close cousin, another brother?

Additionally I wonder if this system has been occuring since before they moved to Hinterlands, back when they lived in Dun Morogh and Ironforge.

Well I looked everywhere for one reference stating that Madoran was father of Magni. There actually aren't that many references to Madoran, and of the ones I know of they don't even mention who his sons were. I've gone around and fixed that issue in the articles, and given the actual citation that mentions the sons of both Khurdros and Madoran. But as I said it doesn't specify who they are. Additionally, Brann never once connects himself to anyone involved during the War of the Three Hammers. He never connects himself to Madoran. Which is rather strange if he was intended to be Brann's father. It seems more likely that that claim was just something added to the wiki without being verified, and based on pure speculation.Baggins 04:26, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Fire and Iron says only that Kurdran and Falstad and close friends (six times), never brothers. The only mention of brothers is Magni and Muradin.--Mondoblasto (talk) 02:10, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
