Hunting Music Rolls

Hi! Me and kd3 have been talking about 'the hunt' on IRC, but I imagine there are a lot more interested folks out there. There really isn't a forum super suited to this, so I figured maybe the talk page would be nice.

We haven't confirmed:

  • A Siege of Worlds: Blackhand
  • Heart of Pandaria: Sha of Fear
  • Legends of Azeroth: Nefarian's End

Most importantly, we are still missing:

  • Angelic: Played in Auberdine, pre-Cataclysm. Developers have hinted this one may be very difficult to find.
  • Darkmoon Carousel: We can probably safely assume this one is on Darkmoon Island, and probably related to the carousel ride.
  • Mountains: Not much is known about this one. It is used in Dun Morogh at night time, but there isn't much else to go on.
  • Mountains of Thunder: This is used in Storm Peaks, so it is likely in Storm Peaks or one of the three instances (Halls of Lightning, Halls of Stone, or Ulduar).
  • The Zandalari (Horde only): Likely on the Isle of Thunder or the Isle of Giants or in Throne of Thunder, Zul'Aman, or Zul'Gurub.

I did an extensive search in Storm Peaks for an object that could contain Mountains of Thunder. I also did a one-through of Ulduar, killing every boss. No luck.

For The Zandalari, the Alliance analog to this is Tinkertown, which comes from Sparkle-o-matic boxes in Gnomeregan. Given how the other two faction-exclusive music rolls mirror each other (both from fishing and both from vendors), it would be logical to assume these are both from containers of some sort in an instance. I checked out the Troves of the Thunder King on the Isle of Thunder, but no luck there. I also did a one-through of Zul'Aman, killing all the bosses and collecting a lot of Amani Wands. None of the freed people had any new options or offered any new loot in their treasure boxes or vendor windows. Since Throne of Thunder vs Gnomeregan isn't a remotely fair setup (one is -slightly- harder than the other), I'm going to try Zul'Gurub next.

Anyone with ideas, feel free to contribute. We could use the help! MMOSimca (talk) 17:48, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps the Mountains of Thunder will be located in the  [Hyldnir Spoils] from those daylies? PeterWind (talk) 18:35, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Good idea. I tried it but didn't get anything new. However, the drop rate is probably not 100%, so going to keep trying it for several days. MMOSimca (talk) 04:39, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I looked around the carnival area but I found nothing interesting, sadly. Tried going on the carousel and using all of the different rides. Did all the games available and opened 6x Darkmoon Game Prize. Even stuck around for the "Power of the Horde" show. I didn't get the contents of the Darkmoon Deathmatch box though. It could be in there (or hidden somewhere obscure on the island). MMOSimca (talk) 01:26, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Think someone added the info for the darkmoon carousel already, it is sold by Chester in any case. PeterWind (talk) 13:55, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
A commenter on Wowhead says they found  [Music Roll: Mountains] in Winterspring, looted from an object named Frozen Supplies. Unfortunately, the comment does not state anything more specific. I'm still combing the zone. Aliok (talk) 00:49, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
