Race

Is there actually any source confirming that this indeed a hydra? For me it seems like it was some other being (possibly a dragonkin creature) until being altered and twisted by Nefarian's experiments. - Aedror (talk) 19:27, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

The note on the concept art clearly read "Chimera"

Wowhead can surely gives up the name of the model, and we'll be clear on this point.

The model's name is Chimerabeast ... and given the quotes, he is something completely unique and whatever he once was... it is no longer. So I don't think Hydra would be his race. Sssssssssssssssssssssssss For Pony! (^Sssss/_Slithered) 21:20, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

I think that Chimaeron's name is likely based on the real world usage of "chimaera" (meaning a mash-up). Chimaeron was obviously messed up by Nefarion. I have no idea what it once was. It, however, is currently not a chimaera (the night elf one). It used the same skeleton of a hydra, and the infighting idle animation that all hydras have is a point used as a mechanic in the fight, so I feel that it is close to a hydra. If you really want to make a page based on its model name, go right ahead, but it would be nice to know what it is a messed up version of. I do not think there should be a page that lists creatures of unknown races, as it has a high potential for becoming a mess and we have a category for that.--SWM2448 21:27, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Maybe when Blizzard implement that improved boss/dungeon atlasloot-like-thing which should be albe to tell some lore about every boss (i believe they said something about that at Blizzcon), we will know, unkess ofcourse there are some quests for these cataclysm dungeons... - Aedror (talk) 21:33, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
