Talk:Bloodthirst

I'm not sure how the attack power numbers were put together, but according to my math, the attack power is about 300 off in each example.

Here is the formula I believe to be correct and what I'm using:

short version: attack_power(to make both talents equal) = weapon_speed*weapon_dps/0.285714 + 560

derived from: to get: mortal strike damage = bloodthirst damage

weapon_speed*weapon_dps + 160 + (attack_power*2.3/14) = .45*attack_power

comments for above: weapon_average_dmg + mortal strike bonus + normalized attack power(the 2.3) to straight damage(the /14) = bloodthirst dmg

There are so many issues with this comparison I'm not sure where to start. Trying to compare the exact effectivity of Mortal Strike and Bloodthirst in either a real PvP or PvE situation is impossible.

The major reason why is Arms warriors most likely have Blood Frenzy and 2H Weapon Spec, which both increase the damage done by Mortal Strike. In addition, the rage generation of Arms and Fury are completely different, and a well-geared Fury warrior could very well gain a great amount more rage than an Arms warrior, making for more frequent usage of Bloodthirst.

There are too many variables and and not many if any controls to do any side-by-side examinations of Mortal Strike and Bloodthirst on a per-time basis. The general idea that Mortal Strike is good for taking out healers or targets with pocket healers in PvP and debuffing healing mobs in groups, and Fury warrior is good for PvE DPS and exceptional in PvP with excellent gear seems much more specific and rational, be it more vague. -Kaazul, Hakkar

Mortal Strike Comparison

I've added a comparison that takes everything into accound, I believe. Let me know if something is missing. Samalander 01:23, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
