Source?

And what is the source for this? Ragestorm, Head Bookkeeper

I've also been thinking about this lately. His weapons, according to very ancient recordings from thottbot, are named the Twin Blades of Azzinoth. Azzinoth then would have to be a person from who Illidan received said blades (voluntarily or in-), or a place, in the two most common meanings.

I've heard speculation that they come from a doomguard named Azzinoth -- however, this is never mentioned in the War of the Ancients trilogy. In fact, I'm greatly disappointed that Mr. Knaak either forgot to write about how Illidan received his trade-mark weapons or decided he didn't have the time/whatever. They are very iconical and have been with Illidan since before the time of his breaking out during the Third War, so they had to have been received during the War of the Ancients.

...then again, there's the whole dealio with alternate timelines, which could still present the possibility of Illidan getting the blades if nothing that we read about in War of the Ancients actually happened the way it did (though we know the world experienced SOME changes, such as the not-as-extinct extinction of Malygos's flight).

Confusing, that.

Timelines completely confirmed, and still no sign of Azzinoth. Where are they referred to as the Blades of Azzinoth?--Ragestorm 22:05, 12 November 2006 (EST)

I remember hearing the description of the origin of the blades on Lunar Falls, but I can't remember if they mentioned Azzinoth. --Austin P 08:13, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Warglaives?

I'm confused, Doom guard is BIG, and as a Commander, Azzinoth is BIGGER(he's probably >9feet/2.7meters) than normal Doomguard. How could he battle using two small, weird semi-circle Warglaives? Charge while seatting?--Malygos 14:06, 4 January 2007 (EST)

Assuming that Azzinoth follows that general convention. Bear in mind that the blades themselves are large enough to be slightly out of proportion with a densly muscular night elf, so, if we take into account that Illidan is bigger than the average kaldorei, and Azzinoth was slightly smaller than the average Doomguard commander, the size fits fairy well.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 14:13, 4 January 2007 (EST)
IllidanTBCCinematic.jpg Somehow it looks small to me.--Malygos 02:13, 5 January 2007 (EST)

Contrary to every other image of the blades ever seen, I hasten to point out. Anyway, it still works if Azzinoth were the same size as Illidan. There's no such thing as a set height for a species.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 09:53, 5 January 2007 (EST)

Illidan in-game is a lot larger than most night elves. Could his demon powers have caused him to 'grow into them'?--SWM2448 18:51, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, as his half-demon model in TFT was larger than his kaldorei model in RoC. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 20:59, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Blizzard exaggerates much more in-game than in cinematics. Of course, to give the WarCraft style, there is still exaggeration; just not so much. User:KanaruThis is me.User:KanaruI am the sexiest Dwarf ever.User talk:KanaruIf you disagree, click here. 04:08, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Pit lord or doomguard?

Someone changed it to say he was a pit lord (reverted) - can someone check if this is true? User:Kirkburn/Sig2 16:58, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

I'll ask the Hobbit. -_Ragestorm (talk · contr) 23:47, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

To clarify

Azzinoth doesn't physically appear in any source... He's only mentioned in refrence to the history of blades that once belonged to him (such as the unreleased weaspon in World of Warcraft files), or history behind the weapon given in the RPG, which also state they once belonged to Azzinoth.Baggins 23:58, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

In other words, he's mentioned only in that one RPG source and a couple of unreleased files. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 09:12, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

He's also mentioned in refrence to the blades on the Black Temple trailer page. Looks like the blades might be a drop soon.Baggins 18:46, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

The Manual of Monsters RPG to be specific. --Austin P 23:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Sure, its plainly obvious, the page already cites "MoM" and page number, or Manual of Monsters if one follows the link.Baggins

Sorry, I was only looking at the discussion page. --Austin P 12:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Illidan and the Glaives

What weapons did Illidan use before the Warglaives. The style of the weapon of Azzinoth's Blades weren't used by demon hunters until Illidan used them. Mr.X8 00:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

He was a spellcaster, so nothing really (Perhaps a staff but one was never mentioned). He was also the first demon hunter anyway, so whatever he did was first.--SWM2448 00:12, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Azzinoth and Illidan in Hearthstone

I believe that we should add Azzinoth's story in a Hearthstone section, as it is the only official, though non-canon, source of his battle with Illidan that we have. If Arthas and Frostmourne's trivia sections are allowed to be filled with non-canon appearances in non-Blizzard products, surely we can include Azzinoth's similarly non-canon, yet relevant, appearances in an actual Blizzard game.--User:Malcior/Sig 5:04, 2 May 2020.

It's already included in the Notes section, but I guess it could be expanded to have its own Hearthstone section like other pages. :shrugh2: --Ryon21 (talk) 23:14, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
