Class

I know Alynblaze has paladin abilities, but as far as I'm aware he's only ever described as a sentinel. Should he not just be described as a "ghost of a night elf" instead of a "ghost of a night elf paladin"? If there is a hard classification somewhere, that should really be referenced I think.Morrivar (talk) 02:35, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

AFAIK he's not even described as "a sentinel", his title is "The Sentinel", which makes him unlikely to be part of the sentinel order. Also, there's no real difference between him being a "paladin in gameplay" and being a paladin at all Xporc (talk) 12:46, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
WTF do you mean there's no difference? Of course there is. Having certain abilities is not confirmation of a unit's class. He's never confirmed to be a paladin, and yet this article treats it as fact that he must be. I'm happy to accept he's not necessarily a part of the sentinel order, which is why I only gave it as a possibility in my edit, but reverting back to actively calling him a paladin MONTHS after I raised the issue is more than a little heavy-handed. The idea that no room is left open for him not being a paladin is frankly unacceptable when this is supposed to be a record of known facts, not a record of your personal speculation Morrivar (talk) 10:00, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
He has paladin abilities, that's a known fact. He is of the paladin class, whatever his occupation/affiliation is. We don't say he is a member of the Silver Hand or any of the paladin organizations, merely that he fits into the paladin class as described by Blizzard. That's how wowpedia handle such cases, see Fineous Darkvire. Xporc (talk) 10:54, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
If he looks like a paladin, and acts like a paladin, it's certainly the obvious choice to assume that he is in fact a paladin. PeterWind (talk) 13:45, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
I've been away from the game for quite some time, so please forgive the significantly delayed response, but I do not find any of these arguments convincing. Fineous Darkvire is a perfect example of a unit with paladin abilities labeled as mechanically a paladin but nowhere outside the infobox declared as such. If his synopsis led off with "Fienous Darkvire is a dark iron dwarf paladin", then maybe it would be different, but as it stands he is treated how I think Alynblaze should be. Leave his mechanical class in the infobox, but take it out of the synopsis as that implies that in lore he is a paladin, which is not supported by any evidence in the character's lore or interactions with other characters.
