Updating public test realm install locations for PTR 3.02

I think the page (and the scripts used for UI transferring) needs to be updated for the new location of where the public test realm is installed.

For PTR 3.02 it is :

PC = C:\Program Files\World Of Warcraft Public Test\

Mac = /Applications/World Of Warcraft Public Test/

But I'm not sure if this is going to be the default locations for PTRs from here on in.

Can we maybe add it in section on it's own ???

Was considering changing this (i'm sure KD3 was as well), however we don't know if the PTR will stay like this or if it's only this way due to it's nature. Figured we'd wait for the next cycle before we change anything. And besides, those are only defaults, you can isntall it wherever you want. Sixen (talk) 08:45, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

This guide out of date for 3.3.3 PTR

I agree with honem up there.

Made some edits and need confirmation on what to about "patching the PTR" section

Hey there KD3 I've made a lot of edits here. Might want to check what you think about them. All of them have been gleaned from technical support issues raised over the last few PTRs. I tried to keep in with the spirit of the original article.

There was one section I had trouble with though. The "Patching the PTR section". I believe I have already addressed this in the installing the PTR section.

Basically what I found wrong with how you've worded it is you make it sound like the "installing the same patch over and over again" is a valid error.

It's not - people are just not understanding what it means when new builds are pushed out to the PTR. The file name gives you what build it is updating to. If they looked at the build number at the top of the launcher and compared it to waht the newest build number is online they would see it's not downloading the same patch again and again but rather separate build updaters.

I've never actually come across anyone who was downloading the same patch build updater file again and again. It's always been misunderstanding the build updater process
