Random Volatile Elements are "created" when players transmute [Volatile Life]. When the actual transmute is cast, players will wind up with 14-16 of any of the other volatile elements.

Notes
Casting this spell in specific zones will force the type of volatiles created:
[Volatile Air] in Uldum
[Volatile Earth] in Deepholm
[Volatile Fire] in Mount Hyjal
[Volatile Water] in Vashj'ir
The result will be random in any zone other than the listed four. In addition, [Transmutation Master]-spec alchemists will gain an additional proc of 4-8 volatiles, which will be random, irrespective of zone, and may or may not be the same as what the main cast delivered.
Patch changes
Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Changed to have a more consistent proc of 4-8 volatiles as opposed to rare procs of 14-16.
