Patches is an observer pirate that can be summoned during the Skycap'n Kragg encounter in Freehold by placing a [Hearthstone Board] on the ground prior to the start of the encounter. Doing so is the subject of the [I'm in Charge Now!] achievement. Elsewhere in Freehold, a Cutwater Card Shark can be seen playing his card in a match.
Patches was first introduced in Hearthstone as Patches the Pirate.

- — Flavor text
Before his canonical introduction in Battle for Azeroth, Patches made his debut as a legendary card in the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion for Hearthstone. He was described as the envy of pirates everywhere due to having "more eyepatches than most pirates have eyes".[1][2]
