Comics and manga
- Marvel Comics — The [Spark Reactor], used in the quest [40-70] A Strong Heart to resusitate Gelbin Mekkatorque, is a reference to the Arc Reactor used by Tony Stark to keep deadly shrapnel in his chest from reaching his heart, and is also used to power his Iron Man armor.
Gaming
- Darkest Dungeon
- [50] Ruin Has Come is a reference to the intro.
- [Burnished Shield]'s flavor text is a reference to the Man-at-Arms hero.
- Diablo — Wirt's Gambled Leg is another reference to the Wirt, being the third one.
- The Legend of Zelda — In Millstone Hamlet, there are Cranky Chickens. If you attack one, they all swarm and attack you.
Movies and television
- Battlestar Galactica — In Carver's Harbor, there's a wrecked ship with a sign that says "Here lays the Lady Thrace. May she hear nothing but the rain" which is a reference to Kara Thrace in the remake of Battlestar Galactica. In the show, she is often heard saying that she hears nothing but the rain while in stressful situations.
- Bill & Ted — Bill and Ted are a reference to the characters in the movie.
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail — Mysterious Brew has a chance to polymorph the player into a newt, afterwards a You got better. emote is sent to the chat after the debuff runs its course.
- Stranger Things — Dart is a reference to D'Artagnan who was nicknamed "Dart".
- The Simpsons — [Steamed Clams] are a reference to the "22 Short Films About Springfield" episode.
- Winnie the Pooh — In Stormsong Valley, there are NPCs named Honey Bear, Melancholy Mule, Pig, Tiger, and Hunter Robin who are a reference to the characters Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, and Christopher Robin.
Literature
- Harry Potter — In Stormsong Valley, there are NPCs named Severus the Outcast, Harald the Scarred, Ranald Flamehair, and Herme the Wise who are a reference to the characters Severus Snape, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter series.
Other
- Budweiser — In Mangrove Shore, there is a frog named Buhd. If you click on him multiple times he will emit three different sounds, a reference to a Budweiser commercial.
