This quest is found in the catalog next to Malyfous Darkhammer in Winterspring. Talking to Darkhammer will unlock the catalog. It requires player-made goods and items from Scholomance, Stratholme, and Blackrock Spire.
Objectives
In order to create the Leggings of Arcana, you will be required to bring the following items back to Malyfous Darkhammer: 1 Pristine Hide of the Beast; 5 Frayed Abomination Stitchings; 5 Arcanite Bars; 5 
[Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid].
You will also be required to pay 50 gold pieces for the crafting of the item.

Description
While the crafting of such an item has never successfully been accomplished, it is thought to be possible - under the right circumstance.
Should the seeker of arcanum desire to imbue leggings with immense power, the following they must find:
*The pristine hide of the Beast.
*Frayed abomination stitchings.
*Arcanite Bars.
*Frostwhisper's embalming fluid.

Notes
The Pristine Hide of the Beast is skinned off The Beast by a level 310 skinner. Frayed Abomination Stitchings drop off the abominations in Stratholme. Arcanite Bars can be bought from the Auction House or crafted by Alchemists. Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid can be looted in Scholomance from the room with Ras Frostwhisper. All of these materials can be collected without having the quest.
Tip: Because Pristine Hide of the Beast is so much harder to get than all other materials, you should collect that material first. Then collect the BOP Frostwhisper's Embalming Fluid and Frayed Abomination Stitchings. Once you have these materials, you can buy the arcanite bars and then take and complete the quest. This minimizes the usage of your quest log and bank space.

Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): Removed. 
Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): The epic item questline for the turning in of the Beast's hide has had its monetary requirements lowered to 50 gold.
