Heart of the Valorous was a buff that passively doubled 
[Valor Points] gains. It did not raise the weekly valor cap, so the long-term rate of Valor Point acquisition was unaffected. The buff was active on all characters during designated time windows, and persisted through death, logging out, and other interruptions until deactivated by Blizzard itself. With the removal of Valor Points in the Warlords of Draenor expansion, it is not expected to be seen again.
History
Heart of the Valorous was automatically active on all characters in the game during time windows designated by Blizzard. The first window lasted 11 days, but subsequent windows were the length of a weekend, from Friday morning to Monday morning. Heart of the Valorous was never active at the same time as the 
[Gaze of the Black Prince] buff, and with the announcement that Gaze of the Black Prince would be active from September 2014 through the release of Patch 6.0.2,[1] which will remove Valor Points from the game entirely, it is unlikely that Heart of the Valorous will reappear.
Schedule
The following calendar table illustrates the timing of both the [Gaze of the Black Prince] and [Heart of the Valorous] buffs from May through August 2014; the two buffs appeared to be scheduled in a complementary fashion during that period. Days in which Gaze of the Black Prince was active are shaded in black, while Heart of the Valorous is indicated by purple.
Weeks are shown beginning on Tuesdays, the day of regular North American server maintenance. All times are in PDT.

The Heart of the Valorous period from July 4 to July 7 did not have an official announcement, and its exact start and end times are unknown.
Patch changes
Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Removed. 
Hotfix (2014-06-09): Resolved an issue where the Heart of the Valorous buff was not correctly persisting through death. - Patch 5.4.8 (2014-05-20): Added.
