Malfurion in the Heart of Dread after he is freed from his captor.
The Heart of Dread is a large chamber in Darkheart Thicket. It is the last area of the dungeon. Cracks and fissures in the wood emanate the foul energy of the Emerald Nightmare. The Shade of Xavius is here, imprisoning Malfurion Stormrage and attempting to corrupt his mind. He is the last boss of the dungeon.

- While fighting Xavius, the room is engulfed in a fantastic red flame.
- After the Shade of Xavius is defeated, Malfurion gives the option to teleport the player out of the dungeon, to Shala'nir.
