Planning on reestablishing the Patrollers category, or no? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:25, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Is there any particular need for that information, let alone a category? You can actually already get a list of patroller users through special pages, but I really don't know why you'd want to. -- foxlit (talk) 00:07, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
It would be a good idea to recreate the class of users, however. As for the category, there's a category:Admins, isn't there foxlit? You can get that through software too. (e.g. categories are a good thing to have, and rarely have an issue of being out of date in this case.) :) --Sky (talk) 02:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Always thought patrollers used the category Category:Cleaners. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 03:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
That is for users who labels themselves as a person who cleans up vandalism. They overlap, in theory.--SWM2448 03:12, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I somehow think that someone wanting to find a sysop is more likely than someone wanting to contact a patroller; on the other hand, I don't really see a need for Category:Admins either when there's both Special:ListUsers/sysop and Project:ADMIN. I suppose the other use case is "Haha, I'm a sysop/patroller/squirrel" self-identification on user pages, but that doesn't need any sort of admin approval -- Eirik can just add himself to a category reflecting that if he wants to. -- foxlit (talk) 12:58, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I was referring to User Permission Groups, actually. As in, patrollers get a flag on watchlists and "recently changed" lists showing pages that have been "patrolled". Wiki categories are a red herring. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 16:32, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
