Should we make a forum for archiving old topics? There are some topics, like those for events now in the past that really don't need to float around in the active forums. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:32 PM PST 21 Aug 2009
- A separate forum or just categories to throw them into to get them off the main area?

- Kirkburn claimed that "Making it possible to archiving threads should be pretty easy to set up..." at Forum:This_is_a_forum_post#Forum_setup_situation, so he likely had a way in mind.--SWM2448 21:51, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- True, though that's something having an archive forum wouldn't exactly fix - plus that archive forum itself would get extremely long. (Either way, they'd still be accessible from the category page)
- Unfortunately, I'm not sure if you can do a "if in archive don't show in main forum" - if not, then we'd have to lose the forum categorization already present on the topics in order to move them to the archive. Kirkburn talk contr 23:19, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
How about an addition to the template with a dead parameter that will archive the topic, thus removing it from view, but not removed from existence.
{{Forumheader|WoWWiki general|dead=yes}}
would produce:
{{User:Coobra/sandbox0|WoWWiki general|dead=yes|doc=}}
And place in the Category:WoWWiki general forum archives. Example can be seen at Forum:Test for the Dead.
