Am I doomed? I went to another wikia wiki, and discovered that in order to even preview skin changes, I had to set my skin choice to something other than wowwiki. ... which in turn changes the skin I use for wowwiki. Any way to link the skin choice to the wiki? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 16:33, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

I would start another topic for this question. --Gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:55 PM PST 15 Oct 2009
Done. The issue is that Alternate Wiki X does not have the wowwiki skin available, and I do not know how to - or if I can - change what "my" default skin is in that case. Or alternately, how to have preferences NOT shared between wikia wikis, other than create separate accounts. I could, but I hate to. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 18:16, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, this is a technical issue with supporting the old custom wowwiki skin. I am personally fairly keen on the idea of wiki-specific skins (and in fact, have had the idea down on our list for a while), but it's not an easy job, especially from the perspective of not confusing everyone who doesn't use it. As they are, the skin options are already too confusing - so, it's possible we will sort this out when we come to our project to redo user preferences. No ETA though, unfortunately. Is it a wikia-tech issue, rather than a wowwiki-specific one? The problems I had with preview seemed linked to the fact that my chosen skin was not recognized (other than by name). I did not experiment greatly, as it was the separation that was the feature I was most interested in. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:09, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
A bit of both, but I guess mainly because we (Wikia) don't really support the "wowwiki" skin. However, the preview issue specifically definitely looks like a plain old bug (and I can reproduce), so we'll take a look. (Also, I notice there is a broken Monaco_old option available on the skin options list, will get that removed). Kirkburn  talk  contr 20:57, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
