Forum:Gnomish mech
Why does Gnomish mech lump together the humanoid gnomish robots/suits and the type of steam armor that Thermaplugg has? Is it because both can act as both suits and robots? I have seen creature pages like this be split into subcategories on less evidence, but this page does not elaborate on the connection. Maybe it is because the pages is a stub that does not elaborate on anything at all...--SWM2448 23:31, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
- There are no steam armor listed in the "notable gnomish mechs" list. The only indication I see is the image. Maybe it will need to be changed so that it isn't misleading. GVJB (talk) 23:38, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

- I think it just comes with lack of named devices... technically all gnome devices are Gnomish mech... but none of them seem to have proper names.

- The article describe the mechs as one-eyed and having claw appendages. The steam suits don't look like that.GVJB (talk) 23:46, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
- We could fall back to the model names, as usual. The Monster Guide names a few of them (in varying contexts, sometimes with multiple names each). Maybe there are actual names somewhere. However, going off model alone may be misleading. This page is describing a specific model of mob, but are these two thing the same (one just bigger)? --SWM2448 23:52, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
- The bigger ones are more of a suit, like the shredders, only 1 is self controlled I think.. the one in Borean Tundra during those mechagnome quests. (Sssss/Slithered) 00:05, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- The smaller ones can also be suits, with the Peacekeeper Security Suit and the new Gnomeregan Battle Suit.--SWM2448 00:10, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Anyway... if we go by model names, gnomish mech doesn't even exist... not sure if it might have back in the day, but they're located under Gnomespidertank. The little guys are Gnomebot, and the larger ones are Gnomepounder. (Sssss/Slithered) 00:20, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
Re-done
So going through the books, I see nothing too much except that the Arcane Nullifier was based off the Crowd Pummeler and that Thermaplugg vehicle is a steam-powered battle suit, aka steam armor... supposedly one of a kind, but of course that will change every xpak... cause why let a good model go to waste right?
Anyway, Gnomish mech is now a disambiguation page and everything on it was split among Arcane nullifier, Crowd pummeler, and Steam armor. If anyone has objections or comments... perhaps sources for better names, please bring them up. (Sssss/Slithered) 04:26, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- I can not find anything major. Some tidbits:
[Gnomebot Operating Boots] exist (referencing the model name of the pummelers), as does the XM-024 Pummeller (possibly supporting or referencing the "crowd pummeler" name). 
[30] Gyrodrillmatic Excavationators mentions "bots and mechs" in Gnomeregan (likely a general description, take it as you will). Also, Monster Guide names Thermaplugg's steam armor "Thermaplugg battle armor". I think it is best to keep the current names.--SWM2448 01:19, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
- Heh... I found steam armored gnomes called Gnomebot Pounders in Windshear Crag. That is two model names shoved together.--SWM2448 03:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- I stumbled back on this page again. The situation remains unchanged. Most of the things on Gnomish mech are linked both thematically and by shared texture files, but it needs a better name. Also, the race names for the robots could be reviewed.

- I stumbled back on this page again. The situation remains unchanged. Most of the things on Gnomish mech are linked both thematically and by shared texture files, but it needs a better name. Also, the race names for the robots could be reviewed.
