When Blizzard started creating item sets, an item set consisted solely of "these X items". With the advent of gladiator armor, Blizzard started creating sets that had more than one item that satisfied the set bonus requirements. We see that today not only in arena reward armor, but also in raid sets, and even in some crafted item sets.

The wiki currently has set pages such as Hateful Gladiator's Battlegear, which

  • lists all the items sharing that season (IE Hateful)
  • are used as the name for the set, for the individual piece tooltips
  • (generally) carry the whole name of that (matching iLevel) set.

However, the result does not match what is seen in-game. For example,  [Hateful Gladiator's Plate Gauntlets]. The tooltip seen in-game lists "Gladiator's Battlegear" as the set, not "Hateful Gladiator's Battlegear".

While I pretty much agree that a page grouping set items by iteration is useful (for instance, when discussing where to get those items), it does not accurately describe the set as a whole. To that end, I created set pages such as Hellscream's Plate set.

The question is, what to do with them? Should these "set bonus" pages replace the current "iteration set" page links? Should they only be linked to in the page text? and at that, item page? iteration set page? both?

What do you think? While Gourra and I have talked briefly about it, I don't recall that we talked much about it in relation to linkage. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:40, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
