I was wondering about this, since, well, talk pages can't be used like a forum, but it seems, by the removal of a fanfic I posted around, that the forum isn't for fanfics, neither.

So, are fanfic talk pages allowed to discuss the fanfic forum-style, or can't be they discussed at all?--Lon-ami (talk) 12:04, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I am guessing that fanfic cannot be put on the forums. The talk pages of fanfic on the main pages would exclude forum-style conversations. I may be wrong, but it would seem the only place to talk forum-style about fanfic would be on a user's fanfic sub page's talk page. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 12:37, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Unless we decide to create a forum area for just discussing fanfic stuff the fanfic discussions should remain on the talk pages of that particular fanfic. The fanfic pages themselves can be linked through the expansion ideas (and alike idea pages). You can always make a suggestion to have a fanfic forum area started, and let it go to a vote if you desire. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! Lon-ami, can you provide an example of what was removed? Personally, I think half-speculation/half-fanfic type discussions are fine (where speculation refers to guesses rooted in fact), but long purely made up stories are not, and belong in a user subpage. I do not know what "discuss the fanfic forum-style" means. Does it mean that you want to write a fan fiction and then ask people what they think about it? The talk page for the subpage can be used for that. If advertizement and people caring are the issues, then that is another problem...--SWM2448 02:17, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
What Coobra and Sandwichman said is sort of what I was trying to say. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 03:31, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Sandwichman, the forum post he made basically stated, I put my idea here (linked the page) please read it and tell me what you think. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 05:26, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
I wanted to start a discussion for a possible plot for Kul Tiras, and, instead of writing the wall-text at the forum, wrote the fanfic idea at my user page: User:Lon-ami/Kul Tiras. It's both a fanfic and a idea for the lore of a new expansion, hence the doubt. But I perhaps didn't post it well, so it looked like more like a "tell me what you think of this I have wrote" rather than "tell me what you think about the topic, my opinion is in this link" thing.
My problem is that I don't know if, while we're discussing what could happen with the zone of Kul Tiras, I can put a link to a short fanfic and ask for opinions, of course, opinions regarding the topic of the forum thread, not if my fanfic is well written or whatever. This could be misinterpreted in case the fanfics completely match the topic.--Lon-ami (talk) 10:25, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh. I think that might fit under what Coobra said about the linking through the expansion ideas article. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 10:33, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
WoWRP is a good place to have free reign with fanfic. Of course the audience is minuscule in comparison to WoWWiki. There hasn't been a single post in the WoWRP forums. It's kind of sad actually. --Gengar orange 22x22.pngBeware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:07 PM PST 20 Jul 2009
