- "Look at how Capcom the Illidan guy is. He's got Grinch pants on." —Samwise Didier
- "The consummate image of the demon hnter. We had hooked the idea relatively early in the Warcraft III process of a ritually blinded badass who is seeing into the spirit world and uniquely lives to hunt down demons and may have some demonic powers. Samwise was particularly in love with the idea, and we wound up rallying around the hook and creating the character Illidan specifically." —Chris Metzen
