Kaniuga spoke about this piece in his video Life as a Wrath of the Lich King Concept Artist (starting at 42:39):
- "At that time I had begun to look at Paul Lasaine's concept art from some of his films that he had worked on for Sony, and it was beginning to shape a little bit more of my painting ability, but it wasn't until I got onto Diablo that I really, I feel like, began to refine that process. In this shot we really just wanted to kind of capture the wide open feeling of everything. This was, again, one of the early concepts for Northrend, where we knew we had-- we wanted these large glacier structures off in the distance. And then this particular location, you would be able to see the burial grounds. Man, the rendering quality on this-- I really wish I could have finished this one because it has a lot of potential as a painting. Good colors there."
