- "We were putting together Warcraft II and had constructed the story where the humans were driven from their homeland. Sam and I were doing a lot of pencil work, and I felt like we struck the truth of this story and a level of sensitivity that we did not normally hit. Sam usually went with the bombastic warriors and the super-mega overdrive battle scenes, and he conjured this image of a father figure just desperate to help his people survive. It was very inspiring to me in fleshing out the story. This kept the humanity of the characters in the foreground, which is hard to do with an RTS game." —Chris Metzen
