The witch matrons,[1][2] also called nightscreamers,[3] are witches and the leaders of the Heartsbane Coven[4] and part of the Drust forces later invading Ardenweald. When a witch grows powerful enough, they slit their own throats to ascend into this form.[5] Lady Waycrest, also known as the Mother, is the leader of the witch coven. Gorak Zhar is leading the Drust invasion into Ardenweald.

Trivia
- Their concept art and sound files are called "Drustvar hag". They were likely inspired by the sea hag concept art drawn for Cataclysm that was never implemented.
- The term used in Ardenweald for the witch leaders, "nightscreamers", is likely inspired from the movie The Nightcomers, used again for the witches in Penny Dreadful.

Due to the names as Gorak Zhar and Drust Dreadweaver, the matrons in Ardenweald may be female Drust, instead of being former human witches.
