Baneling is a zerg companion that is available for purchase from the StarCraft II Campaign Collection Digital Deluxe on the Battle.net Shop. It was made available through this source around 23 July 2015.
It was originally obtained from purchasing the Collector's Edition of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, which released on 12 March 2013.

A rolling, explosive member of the Zerg swarm, the baneling deals terrible, terrible damage. Very dangerous in close quarters.

Straight from the Siege of Cask and into your heart, it's your own tiny Baneling!
This little critter is practically exploding with excitement to meet you!
And by "meet," we mean "shower with acid."

Trivia
- This pet is based on the zerg baneling units from StarCraft II.
- In StarCraft, banelings are specially evolved zerglings.
- The phrase "terrible, terrible damage" in the pet description is a reference to an oft-repeated phrase by StarCraft II's lead designer Dustin Browder.
