World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition is a Classic server option that will launch in January 2026 which allows playing content and game mechanics of the 2007 The Burning Crusade expansion. It will be available during the last moments of the modern The War Within period and the beginning of Midnight.

Release timeline

The content for Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition will be released in a series of phases much like previous Classics.

Key dates:

  • January 13, 2026: Pre-patch and all the normal 20th Anniversary Edition realms will be transferred to BC Classic Anniversary.

Changes

All the changes from the original Burning Crusade Classic release will also apply, along with other changes:

  • Guild Bank will be available right at the start. In the original BC Classic, it wasn't available until patch 2.5.2.[2]
  • Arena ratings will start at 1,500 for each character (instead of 0). Ratings, once per week, can be reset back to 1,500 with gold only if below that rating per bracket. Gold will vary base on the bracket.[2][3]

Transfers

Unlike the transition from World of Warcraft: Classic to Burning Crusade Classic, all normal 20th Anniversary Edition realms will move to BC Classic Anniversary on 12 January 2026, with no separate realms retained for the 2004 vanilla experience. From 25 November 2025 to 12 January 2026, players can choose to transfer their characters for free to the 2019 Classic Era realms in order to remain in the 2004 vanilla experience.[2]

Editions

Outland Epic Pack contents

Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition can be played in full by having game time on the account; no additional purchase is necessary. The Outland Heroic Pack and Outland Epic Pack are optional editions that provide vanity goodies in both Classic (the Classic Anniversary and MoP Classic branches) and retail. The Epic Pack is meant for those who will be playing Classic as it provides a Level 58 Character Boost and 30 days of game time, with the character boost only for the Classic Anniversary branch.

The following vanity goodies are available in both packs:

Classic-only
Retail-only
