The Whiskersnoot clan is a clan of kobolds who dwell deep beneath Azeroth in a network of twisting tunnels and moss-lined burrows. Known for their fearful traditions and devotion to candlelight, the clan once shunned the surface world entirely.
History
The Whiskersnoots lived for countless generations in the darkness of their mines, digging for shiny stones and maintaining a strict law: "Never pick above your snout, else the darkness snuff you out."
According to clan legend, Granny Whiskersnoot once glimpsed a mysterious eternal light through a crack in the rock—a flame that needed no wick, which she called the Wickless Candle. Though she could never find it again, the story was passed down as a bedtime tale to the younger kobolds.
Twig Whiskersnoot defied the old law when her cousin Tallow Whiskersnoot disappeared while seeking the Wickless Candle. Twig braved cave-ins and utter darkness to rescue him, ultimately breaking through to the surface and discovering the truth: the Wickless Candle was the sun itself. Twig returned with healing white flowers as proof, inspiring the younger generation to dig upward and allowing the ailing Granny to witness the light before her passing.[1]
